Did you know that every Sonas Denim outfit is made out of reclaimed denim pieces
Thousands and thousands of yards of denim sits in warehouses throughout the country, just waiting for a buyer that never comes because big corporations refuse to purchase a fabric without a yardage exceeding so many hundreds or thousands of yards. And the warehouse refuses to part with this unused denim for free. So there is a stagnant standstill. Sonas Denim, reclaims it for itself, and buys this forgotten and forlorn sturdy denim that sits in small, odd yardage rolls in the backs of warehouses. This denim is clean and strong. It's just neglected from its original life path of being a fiber. Sadly, with no purchaser, the denim would have eventually been wasted in landfill had a rescuer/buyer not appeared.
It's developing and using these reclaimed materials to make something cool to that makes Sonas Denim so Unique and Cool. Read the whole interview of founder Gerry Kelly in the December issue of BAYFashion Magazine. BAYFashion December 2011 - San Francisco Fashion Update Issue
