90′s Neon

Neon colors are taking the spring streets by storm. This 90′s trend is one I welcome with open arms- I love the 90′s as long as it’s not midriff-baring tops for men. Whether used as an accessory or as a pant, neon colors are sure to brighten any outfit.

Paris Fashion Week 2012: Balmain

Balmain had, by far, the most beautiful collection to be shown at Paris Fashion Week. While Valentino and Dior both incorporated tapestry into their designs, the colors and beading done by Olivier Rousteing were far superior. Rousteing was recently brought onboard as fashion house Balmain’s creative director. At the tender age of 26, he has become a tour de force in the fashion industry.

The most stunning piece in the collection was the white bejeweled dress with a flower motif in the center. It is elegant and playful at the same time without being too pretentious. The inspiration behind the collection was the blue and gold Faberge egg that Richard Burton gave to Elizabeth Taylor. This inspiration led to Rousteing’s use of white and pastels interspersed with hard looks of black to create an amazing aesthetic appeal. The hard lines of the iconic Balmain jacket were softened with the use of loose-fitting cropped pants to further highlight a sort of “opposites attract” theme existent throughout the collection. All in all, Balmain’s exquisite collection proved to the world, that Rousteing is here to stay.
